The meaning behind the title is twofold. The Roman Numeral for "30" is XXX, which we all know is synonymous with Adult themed materials. Secondly, there's a common notion that it takes 30 days of not doing something to break that habit or addiction...hence, "Thirty". The song features a powerful excerpt from a John Piper sermon and a sample in the beginning from the movie "Flight" (starring Denzel Washington) that in my opinion did and excellent job depicting what addiction looks like.
